Popular Ghanaian photography duo TwinsDntBeg have said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has performed better in government than the National Democratic Congress (NDC), arguing that they cannot identify any NDC policy that has positively impacted the ordinary Ghanaian.
They made the remarks during an interview with Nana Romeo on UTV’s Atuu Show.
“We have observed the activities of the two governments, the NDC and the NPP, since 1992,” they said.
The duo recalled growing up during the administration of former President John Agyekum Kufuor and highlighted policies they believe improved the lives of many Ghanaians.
“We remember during the Kufuor era, we were in primary school, the policies he brought. School feeding, the Metro Mass, NHIS and others. We saw how they progressed Ghana,” they said.
They also praised former President Nana Akufo-Addo’s Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy, saying its full impact would become evident in the long term.
“And then President Akufo-Addo came with one of the best policies, the Free SHS policy, which we will see the effects in the long run,” they said.
Comparing the records of the two parties, which have governed Ghana under different presidents since the return to constitutional rule in 1992, the duo said the NPP had performed better.
“Comparing the two, the NPP has performed way better than the NDC. The NDC, with all their 30-plus years combined they've been in power, we haven't seen any policy they've brought that has positively affected the ordinary Ghanaian,” they said.
The NPP governed Ghana from 2001 to 2009 under Kufuor and from 2017 to 2025 under Akufo-Addo.
The NDC governed from 1993 to 2001 under Jerry John Rawlings and from 2009 to 2017 under John Evans Atta Mills and John Dramani Mahama. Mahama completed Mills’ term following his death in 2012 and returned to office in January 2025.
TwinsDntBeg comprises twin photographers Emmanuel and Samuel Appiah Gyan. They have photographed several public figures, including former President Akufo-Addo, and have been described as the official photographers of former Second Lady Samira Bawumia.
