GBA president criticises Chief Justice’s comments on state enterprises

Ghana Bar Association President Efua Ghartey has criticised comments attributed to Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie comparing the performance of state institutions under the current and previous administrations.\n\nSpeaking at the GBA annual conference in Ada, Mrs Ghartey said the remarks could create an impression that the Judiciary was aligning itself with the Executive.\n\nShe stressed that the Bar remains committed to defending judicial independence but said judicial officers must stay within the limits of their constitutional mandate and avoid partisan political discourse.\n\nThe conference was held under the theme “150 Years of Ghana’s Legal Evolution: Transforming the Profession and Driving Its Future with Industry.”\n\nSource: GhanaWeb/Citi Newsroom.
