Communities must protect, maintain public facilities – Patrick Boamah

The Member of Parliament for Okaikoi Central, Patrick Boamah, has called for a strong maintenance culture to ensure public facilities remain useful to communities over the long term. Speaking to journalists after commissioning an AstroTurf at Tesano on Sunday, September 20, Mr Boamah said the facility would provide young people in the area with an alternative venue for recreational activities, particularly instead of using the Police Training Depot pitch. He said users would be required to make a modest contribution towards the maintenance of the facility to ensure its sustainability. “Anyone who will be interested in using the place will have to pay something small for its maintenance so that we can sustain the place for a very long time.” Mr Boamah also appealed to residents to take responsibility for protecting the facility and keeping it in good condition. “I will thank the community too.
