‘It was just a joke’ – Nigel Gaisie reacts to report of seeking government appointment Prophet Nigel Gaisie is the founder of Prophetic Hill Chapel Founder and leader of Prophetic Hill Chapel, Prophet Nigel Gaisie, has clarified comments he made about his interest in securing a government appointment, describing them as a casual joke rather than a declaration of political ambition. In a statement issued by his office on October 30, 2026, the prophet said reports suggesting that he wanted to become Minister of Religious Affairs or a member of the Council of State should be disregarded. According to the statement, the comments were made during a live radio interview on Neat FM on October 29, 2026, while promoting the 2026 edition of his programme, #WYBIFH'26. “The quote circulating that Prophet Nigel Gaisie said he wants to be Minister of Religious Affairs / Council of State member/Dr.Bawumia bla blai" should be ignored,” the statement said. “It was a casual joke made during a live radio interview yesterday while promoting #WYBIFH'26. It was not a declaration for any political appointment,” it added. The clarification follows an interview in which Prophet Gaisie spoke about his expectation of receiving a government appointment, either as a minister or a member of the Council of State. During the interview, he said he had hoped to be considered for a position that would allow him to oversee religious affairs, arguing that his educational background and religious experience made him suitable for such a role. “I was looking forward to being appointed as a minister. I was hoping that maybe I would have been a Council of State member or a minister responsible for religious affairs. I'm educated, and I would have done it while continuing with the work of God,” he said. Prophet Gaisie also defended his contribution to the current government, insisting that his efforts should be recognised. Sharing Offertory, Using his V8s: Nigel Gaisie on how he supported NDC appointees He further argued that the church should take an active interest in politics and governance, stressing that religious leaders should not be excluded from political appointments because of their positions in the church. To support his position, he cited Zimbabwean preacher Prophet Uebert Angel, who has held a diplomatic appointment in the Zimbabwean government. He also indicated that he would consider a political appointment in the next phase of governance if he found the offer worthwhile. “We should also look at it. In the next phase of governance, we will see. If it is a good appointment, I will consider it,” he added. However, his office has maintained that the comments should not be interpreted as an expression of interest in any political position. It stressed that Prophet Gaisie remains committed to his religious calling. “Prophet Nigel Gaisie is committed to his mandate as a Prophet and nothing more,” the statement concluded.
