'We're like tamed dogs' - Gbande warns NPP against violence after Kojo Bamba's election
Mustapha Gbande (L) says Kojo Bamba (R) is the NDC's 'boy'
A Deputy Director of Operations at the Office of the President, Mustapha Gbande, has cautioned his political opponents over suggestions that the election of Kojo Fosu Boadu, popularly known as Kojo Bamba, as the 1st National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is meant to stir violence against the NDC.
Speaking during a panel discussion on Asempa FM on October 6, 2026, Gbande, who doubles as the Deputy National Organiser of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), laughed at suggestions that NPP members who commit crimes cannot be arrested with the election of Bamba, a former head of the vigilante group, Delta Force.
He asserted that the NDC is not afraid of Bamba in any way and will deal with any acts of violence that his election brings.
“Some of the NPP members are saying that the election of Bamba means we can’t arrest NPP members. We would arrest them; if you commit an offence, we would arrest you. They are also saying they have brought Bamba to beat NDC members. Who is he coming to beat? Bamba is in the Ashanti Region; he is our boy; he is our little brother.
“We are past the era of violence. If it is about violence, we would have killed all NPP members by now. We would have ransacked them and beaten them well at the recent by-election, but we didn’t do that,” he added.
The NDC Deputy General Secretary indicated that his party has eased its violent tendencies because of its leader, President John Dramani Mahama.

“They should stop threatening us as a party… but let nobody create an impression that they are coming with violent attacks. Do you know the reserves we have? Do you know the reserves we have? It is because of President Mahama that the party has become one of only women…
“The NDC is a formidable party, resolute, and we are on stand-by. We are like tamed dogs because our leader is a gentle soul. So we’ve been tamed, but they should not advance the conversation that we have elected Bamba… he is coming to precipitate violence,” he said.
He added that any NPP party members who are caught in illegal acts would be arrested and duly punished, just like their former Ashanti Regional chairman, who is now serving a 20-year jail term.
