Tetteh accused Prof Gyampo of being overly critical of the NPP because he was benefiting from the government, suggesting that his position had influenced his remarks about the party. “Because he is enjoying honey from the government, so he is saying what he wants,” Tetteh said. He made the remarks in an interview on Asempa FM on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, while responding to Prof Gyampo’s assessment of the NPP following its recent internal elections in Kumasi. In a series of social media posts, Prof Gyampo argued that the outcome of the NPP’s elections demonstrated that the party had not changed despite its defeat in the 2024 general elections. “The outcome of their elections shows two things. First, it is decidedly clear that there’s no remorse, there’s no change. Second, their political arrogance has deafened them such that they couldn’t hear what Ghanaians told them in 2024,” he wrote. The professor further argued that the NPP was experiencing an identity crisis, contrasting its current state with what he described as its former status as an elite and doctrinal political party. “It used to be an elite and doctrinal party of doyens. But they currently are battling identity crisis. Our developmental challenges make it imperative that we are governed by regimes birthed by political parties that aren’t mules,” he added. However, Tetteh rejected the suggestion that the NPP had lost its identity, insisting that the party’s strength lay in its inclusiveness and its ability to accommodate people from different backgrounds. According to him, the NPP does not rely solely on the elite to run its affairs or engage in politics, arguing that the party has consistently created opportunities for people from diverse social and educational backgrounds. $10M Losses, 89 Victims: FBI detains over 130 in Ghana scam centre crackdown “The NPP is a broader party, and we don’t use only the elites to rule the party or do politics. We haven’t lost our identity; it is inclusivity,” he stated. Tetteh also cited the party’s inclusion of persons with disabilities and other groups in its administration as evidence that it remained committed to broad-based participation. He challenged Prof Gyampo to compare the NPP’s approach to inclusiveness with that of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC). As part of his argument, the former MP referenced NDC politician Sofo Azorka and compared his position within the party with that of Kojo Bamba, who recently emerged as the NPP’s First Vice Chairman. “Sofo Azorka, is he not the First Vice of the NDC? So, Azorka and Bamba, who is more educated?” he asked. “Did he go with us on campaign tour? But he is on social media writing English,” he added.
