Police arrest suspect with 37 slabs of suspected Indian Hemp at Tema
The Tema Regional Police Command has arrested a 49-year-old trader, Issaka Mohammed, for allegedly possessing 37 slabs of compressed dried plant material suspected to be Indian hemp.

The Tema Regional Police Command has arrested a 49-year-old trader, Issaka Mohammed, for allegedly possessing 37 slabs of compressed dried plant material suspected to be Indian hemp.
According to the police in a statement, “the arrest was carried out by the Ashaiman District Police on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at about 11:30 p.m., following intelligence received by Motorbike Patrol officers about a suspected Indian hemp dealer operating at a ghetto behind the New Tulaku Cow Market.”
The police said officers proceeded to the area and intercepted a sack in the possession of the suspect.
“A search of the sack allegedly led to the discovery of 37 slabs of compressed dried plant material suspected to be Indian hemp.”
The Police said the exhibits were counted in the presence of the suspect and have been retained for evidential purposes.

Issaka Mohammed is currently assisting the Police with investigations and is expected to be put before the court as soon as practicable.
The Tema Regional Police Command has urged the public to continue providing credible information on individuals involved in the possession, sale and distribution of Indian hemp and other illicit drugs.
