'Our goal is to build Dad's company to $200 billion – Halima Dangote

Halima Dangote, Group Executive Director, Commercial, at Dangote Industries Limited Halima Dangote, daughter of Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote, has rejected claims that she and her siblings are spoilt because of their father’s wealth. Halima, who is also Group Executive Director, Commercial, at Dangote Industries Limited, said children from wealthy families often keep a low profile when they meet people from similar backgrounds and do not always disclose their identities or wealth. “We are not spoilt. Unlike when we meet our father’s friends’ kids, we stay quiet and don’t say who we are. Life was easier before people recognised us,” she said during an interview with Bloomberg Television alongside her sisters. Halima explained that while some people are comfortable using social media and being in the public eye, she and her siblings prefer to maintain a lower profile. She said the performance of the businesses remains the clearest measure of the contribution she and her siblings are making. According to her, their roles in the various companies, as well as the financial results recorded, demonstrate their contribution to the businesses. “I think like Fatima and I said, the results are just the ones speaking for itself. The sale of this business, the profit of this, us growing 200 billion dollars. We are all in those key positions and I mean numbers don't lie, so that's why,” she stated.
