'One artiste cannot take Ghanaian music to the global stage’ — Black Sherif

Musician Black Sherif has emphasized that taking Ghanaian music to the global stage requires a collective industry effort rather than the work of a single artiste. Musician Black Sherif has challenged the idea that one artiste can carry Ghanaian music to the global stage, saying the industry needs a collective effort to achieve greater international success. Speaking on the Afternoon Show, Black Sherif said there is a limit to what one artiste can achieve alone and called for greater collaboration and collective movement within the Ghanaian music industry. “It is not realistic for one person to carry the entire Ghanaian music to the global stage as people assume. It can never be the work of an individual artiste. There’s only so much one person can do; we need people and collective motion in the industry.” He also questioned comparisons between Ghana’s music industry and other countries, saying expectations around how Ghanaian music should break into the global market must be approached realistically. “With how we want to experience our music and the kind of countries we are comparing our music with, it is not realistic.” Black Sherif further described his latest musical direction as a reintroduction of himself, reflecting the different stages and influences that have shaped his journey since he started making music. “The music I was making in 2019 and in high school, the music I was making during the pandemic, they sound like Sun Sherif.
