According to investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni, who spoke to some of the alleged victims of the sexual misconduct, his checks indicate that Abdulai is seeking to become the NDC constituency chairman for Juaben and currently serves as the party’s Juaben constituency secretary. Education Minister directs suspension of Obuasi SHTS headmaster Manasseh stated that he got to know of the headmaster’s political career while he was investigating the allegations brought against him. He added that a former party executive who spoke to him alleged that some politicians affiliated with the headmaster had attempted to interfere in the matter. “There is a part of it that has to do with politics, but I don't know how that should even come in the first place… But this man \[headmaster\], we are told, is the Juaben constituency secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress. “And there are posters of him wanting to contest for the constituency chairman. So this NDC former constituency executive who spoke to me in the interview, Frederick Addai, said that any time the issues came up, any time the scandals came up, some members of the party, not like the national executives, but those within the area and the region, would sometimes come together and then try to see how to calm down tempers and get the issues resolved,” Manasseh alleged. He suggested that the headmaster, who is in a position of power, appears to be enjoying some protection from people in high places.
