The former General Secretary of the NPP, John Boadu, is likely to win the party's National Chairmanship race, but faces a tight contest from Boakye Agyarko with a huge undecided bloc that could still change the outcome.
This is according to the Phase III Final Report on Delegates' Preferences ahead of the NPP National Executives' Elections by Africa Policy Lens (APL), based on 1,627 completed records from delegates eligible to vote.
The report shows that while 615 delegates, representing 37.8%, said they 'Don't Know' who they will vote for as Chairman - a figure higher than that of any individual candidate - among decided voters, John Boadu holds a clear advantage.
Among those who named a candidate, John Boadu has the largest recorded share: 479 respondents, equivalent to 29.4% of the full eligible base and 47.3% among decided voters.
He is followed closely by Boakye Agyarko with 395 respondents (24.3% eligible, 39.0% decided). Former Chairman Paul Afoko polled 126 (7.7% eligible, 12.5% decided), and Sammy Crabbe polled 12 (0.7%).
What gives Boadu the edge is his dominance among decided voters, leading by *8.3 percentage points (47.3% vs 39.0%)* in the decided pool. The report also notes a strong regional dimension, with support for the leading response ranging from 56.2% in Oti to just 11.6% in Volta, suggesting Boadu's national spread is wider.
APL, which used a census-style outreach rather than a random sample, cautioned that regional extremes should be interpreted alongside base sizes and that its findings describe perceptions, not an election forecast.
*Other Positions: General Secretary and organiser races most consolidated*
While the Chairmanship is still tight, other contests show clearer consolidation:
General Secretary - Justin Kodua Frimpong (JFK) is the most consolidated of all single-choice races, with 64.9% of eligible respondents (83.1% of decided voters). 'Don't Know' is only 21.9%.
National Organizer - Daniel Nii Titus Glover commands 812 respondents (49.9% eligible, 70.5% decided), while Ali Maiga Halidu is a distant second with 16.0%. 'Don't Know' is 29.3%.
Treasurer - It is the most open race. In fact, 'Don't Know' leads this race with 39.6% (644). Among decided voters, Alfred Kojo Thompson leads with 27.1% eligible (44.9% decided), followed by Collins Nuntwiri Nuamah at 14.6% and Tahiru Issahaku Moomin at 12.6%.
Women Organiser - Mavis Hawa Koomson leads with 49.5% eligible (81.5% decided, 106 votes) against Safia Mohammed at 11.2%. 'Don't Know' is 39.3%.
Youth Organiser - Abanga Fuseini Yakubu leads with 36.9% eligible (55.4% decided), followed by Clement Opoku Gyamfi (CID) at 21.2%.
Nasara Organiser - Awal Mohammed leads with 37.0% eligible (47.5% decided), followed by Mohammed Ali Suraj at 23.4% and Salim Bamba at 16.2%.
Vice Chairperson (Multi-select up to 3) - Nana Akomea was selected by 45.9%, Henry Nana Boakye (Nana B) by 44.3%, Mustapha Abdul Hameed by 40.6%, and Kojo Fosu Boadu (Kojo Bamba) by 33.1%.
APL's conclusion said Phase III provides a substantially larger dataset than its previous wave and that the General Secretary and National Organizer items show the strongest concentration of expressed support.
