According to the Northern Regional Director of the Births and Deaths Registry, Fuseini Damba Issifu, the region has so far recorded more than 51 per cent of its annual target of 83,144 new births, indicating significant progress. He has therefore urged parents and guardians to register newborns within 12 months, stressing that the process is free during that period. On late registration, Mr Damba said interest in obtaining birth certificates was increasing, as the document had become an essential requirement for accessing several services. “The Northern Region was given a target of 83,144 to register in 2026. As we speak, we have registered close to 51 per cent of early births in the Northern Region, excluding late births. We are talking about infant births.
