Nana B questions credibility of security-led probe into cocaine bust

New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Organiser Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has raised concerns about the credibility of the investigation into the recent cocaine bust, questioning whether the security officials involved in supervising the consignment can independently probe the incident. According to him, the cocaine shipment may have passed through a normal scanning point before being diverted through another route and loaded onto the ship. “Yesterday someone was telling me that with the tonnes of cocaine seized in France, it is possible it was passed through the normal scanning point but ushered through a certain place unto the ship, and it is possible,” he said. Nana B said the possibility made him question President John Mahama’s decision to direct the security agencies to investigate the matter and submit their findings within two weeks. “That is why I was worried when President Mahama asked the security agencies to go and investigate the bust and within two weeks bring their report,” he noted. Nana B clarifies comments on alleged cocaine manufacturing labs in Ghana He questioned whether officials who supervised the movement of the consignment would be able to produce an impartial report on how the shipment passed through the system. “The very people who supervised this conveyance? What proper report are you expecting from them?” he asked. Nana B further argued that officials who fear the outcome of the investigation could affect their positions may be reluctant to produce findings that could implicate them. “Because someone will be thinking about their job and will not bring a report that will indict them,” he added.
