President John Dramani Mahama was captured directing the Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson, Jean Mensa, to change her standing position during a photo session at Jubilee House on October 12, 2026.
The incident occurred shortly after the President swore in two new Deputy Chairpersons of the Electoral Commission, Emelia Afi Agbenyo and Dr Joseph Kwaku Asamoah.
During the official photo session involving the President, the Vice President and the two newly sworn-in Deputy Chairpersons, Jean Mensa was invited to join the group for a photograph.
Upon mounting the podium, the EC Chairperson initially positioned herself to the President's left. However, President Mahama directed her to move to his right, closer to the Vice President, who was standing on that side.
Jean Mensa complied with the President's directive and moved to the designated position for the photograph.
Interestingly, during a subsequent group photograph involving the families of the newly appointed Deputy Chairpersons, the EC Chairperson was repositioned closer to President Mahama.

She was later seen engaging the President in a conversation during the ceremony.
Akosua Otchere, a presidential correspondent and broadcast journalist with Citi FM and Channel One TV, who was present at the event, also shared her observations about the interaction.
According to her, the President's gesture during the photography session was significant and reflected the recognition accorded to the office of the Electoral Commission Chairperson.
She wrote, “President Mahama asked the photographers to hold on and directed that she be moved to stand immediately to his left. I think that moment was significant. Sometimes, the smallest gestures speak volumes about recognition and the importance attached to certain office holders.
“And oh, throughout her stay at Jubilee today I think she was very relaxed. I mean… the way the likes of ASEIDU Nketiah, Joyce Bawah, Attorney General and Fifi Kwetey exchanged pleasantries was beautiful to watch.”
