Monday, September 21 declared public holiday for Founder’s Day

The Ministry of the Interior has declared Monday, September 21, 2026 as Founder’s Day and a statutory public holiday to be observed throughout Ghana.\n\nThe declaration was signed by Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak and issued on September 14.\n\nFounder’s Day commemorates the birthday of Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first President and a leading figure in the country’s independence struggle.\n\nThe observance follows changes made under the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days amendment passed in 2025.
