IGP DEPLOYS SPECIAL TEAM TO INVESTIGATE DEATHS OF 3 CHILDREN IN TAMALE
The Northern Regional Police Command has commenced investigations into the deaths of three children whose bodies were discovered in the boot of a vehicle at Kobilmahagu Zoo in the Tamale Metropolis of the Northern Region.

The deceased have been identified as Dauda Abdul Aziz (3), Saani Alsharaf (5), and Dauda Fadilan (7). The tragic discovery was made on Monday morning, October 5, 2026, triggering an immediate high-level investigation by the Police Administration.
According to an official press statement signed by the Northern Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Wisdom Lavoe, the children left home at around 8:00 AM on Sunday, October 4, 2026, to attend Islamic classes but never returned. An intensive search by community members yielded no results until around 5:00 AM on Monday, when their lifeless bodies were spotted inside the boot of a black Hyundai Tucson with registration number AS 1770-14.
When police officers arrived at the scene, they found the SUV stuck deep in the mud on a local road. Preliminary inspections revealed highly unusual details: the driver’s door and the rear passenger door directly behind it were left open, while the remaining doors, including the vehicle's boot where the children were trapped, were completely locked.
The vehicle has been linked to a personnel member of the Ghana Immigration Service. Upon his arrest, the officer claimed that his car had been immobilized and stuck in that specific mud patch for the past five days. The suspect has since been transferred to Accra under heavy security to assist the Police Headquarters with further interrogations.
In a swift response to the community's shock, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has deployed a high-powered special task force to Tamale to support the regional command. The team includes elite homicide investigators, forensic crime scene experts, and senior intelligence officers.
The vehicle has been securely impounded for advanced forensic fingerprinting and DNA testing. Authorities are currently awaiting the official autopsy report to establish the exact cause of death and determine whether foul play or accidental suffocation was involved. DCOP Wisdom Lavoe has urged the public and the grieving families to remain calm, promising that the police will leave no stone unturned in delivering justice.
