Abanga said his loyalty to the NPP remained firm despite the political differences within his family, stressing that he had no intention of defecting to the National Democratic Congress (NDC). “This is not possible. If somebody should come and tell you I will expose my political strategies and ideas to the NDC, it doesn’t make sense. I love the NPP, so whoever knows me can testify to my loyalty to the New Patriotic Party,” he said. Speaking on Channel One TV’s Face to Face on October 6, 2026, he said he had served the NPP wholeheartedly since 2014 and remained committed to the party. “I’ve spent the whole of 2014 to date serving the New Patriotic Party, wholeheartedly,” he stated. Abanga explained that his mother supports the NPP, while his father and twin brother, Hassan Abanga, are affiliated with the NDC.
