Ghana Immigration Service arrested 2,241 foreign nationals on the streets of Accra in a special operations

The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has arrested 2,241 foreign nationals in a targeted operation to clamp down on organized street begging in the Greater Accra Region. The intelligence-led exercise took place in the early hours of Friday, May 16, 2025. A total of 909 adults and 1,332 children were arrested. Among them, 961 were male and 1,280 female. The Minister for Interior and National Security, Hon Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, in a social media post on his page commended the Ghana Immigration Service for their commitment to ensuring a safe and secured Ghana and the call of people to do the same operations in Cities like Kumasi, Tamale and other cities across the country.
