Eugene Appiah: Ghanaian-American defender sets sight on Black Stars
Eugene Appiah, an 18-year-old Ghanaian-American footballer, is determined to rise through the ranks of American college soccer and earn an opportunity to represent Ghana on the international stage.
The young defender, who currently competes in NJCAA Division I soccer in the United States, is focused on taking his football career to the next level as he continues to develop his abilities and establish himself as a promising talent.
Appiah’s ambition is driven by one major dream: wearing the Black Stars jersey and representing Ghana at the highest level of international football.

A versatile player capable of operating as both a defender and a defensive midfielder, Appiah brings a combination of pace, physical strength, creativity, work rate and defensive awareness to the pitch. His ability to contribute in attack, including finding the back of the net, further highlights his all-round qualities.
His development has been built on a foundation of impressive performances at the high school level, where his defensive excellence earned him significant recognition. Appiah was named to the GHSA 6A All-Region First Team Defensive and also received the prestigious GHSA 6A All-Region Defender of the Year award.
These accolades reflected his consistency, discipline and ability to make an impact defensively against competitive opposition.
Beyond his high school achievements, Appiah also participated in the Nike TOMA programme, where he emerged as an Atlanta Champion and helped his team reach the semifinals of the national finals.
His performances at the Nike TOMA National Finals further strengthened his reputation as a player to watch, earning him a Nike deal in recognition of his impressive showing.
At just 18, Appiah is continuing to build his experience and sharpen his game in the United States, with the ambition of opening doors to greater opportunities in the sport. His versatility and growing list of achievements provide a solid foundation as he pursues his professional aspirations.
For Appiah, however, the journey is about more than individual recognition. His ultimate goal is to earn the opportunity to represent Ghana, the country with which he hopes to make a lasting connection through football.
While the road to the international stage remains challenging, the young defender is determined to keep improving, competing and proving himself.
With his eyes firmly set on the future, Eugene Appiah is working towards turning his Black Stars dream into reality and establishing himself as a name to watch in the next generation of Ghanaian football talent.
