EDUCATION MINISTRY EXTENDS SHS PLACEMENT TO Sept 18

The Ministry of Education has pushed the deadline for the 2026 Senior High School (SHS) placement process to Friday, September 18, 2026, granting parents and applicants extra time to finalize their admissions.
This extension ensures that candidates facing placement challenges can resolve their issues before freshers officially begin the academic year on September 18. Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) resolution desks will stay operational through the workweek to address all remaining complaints.
Recent statistics indicate that 33,726 out of 53,887 candidates qualified for self-placement have successfully chosen their schools. Additionally, out of 9,948 cases submitted to resolution hubs nationwide, officials have processed 4,531.
With the deadline fast approaching, candidates and guardians should follow the specific steps below based on their situation.
Self-Placement Guidelines
If the system did not automatically assign you to an institution, you are likely eligible to select one manually.
The CSSPS self-placement portal enables qualified students to choose from available school and course vacancies.
Education officials encourage applicants to look beyond oversubscribed, high-demand schools to find suitable alternatives.
Unplaced students can access this feature directly through the main CSSPS site.
Resolving Placement Issues
If you received a placement but need changes regarding your school, academic program, or housing arrangements, visit an official resolution center.
Residential Status Adjustments:
Requesting a switch between day and boarding status requires official review. Do not expect automatic updates—submit your request directly to resolution staff.
Location Options: Regional resolution centers are open nationwide. For issues requiring higher-level review, the National Placement Resolution Centre is located at the GNAT Hall in Accra.
Required Documentation: Bring your BECE index number, placement printout, personal details, and any supporting documents related to your request.
Remote Support: CSSPS phone helplines are active to support families who cannot easily travel to regional centers.
Next Steps for Confirmed Students
If your placement details are accurate and you have no pending complaints, you do not need to contact or visit a resolution center during this extension window. Simply focus on completing your registration and preparing for school.
