Balance Academic Pressure with Play and Well-being, Nii Ashaley Assemblyman Advises Parents
Hon. Akrofi Dankwa, Assembly Member for the Nii Ashaley Electoral Area, urges parents to supervise studies while allowing children time to play, and praises Christian-Muslim coexistence in Ghana.

ACCRA, GHANA — The Assembly Member for the Nii Ashaley Electoral Area, Honorable Akrofi Dankwa, has called for a holistic approach to child rearing, cautioning parents against placing excessive academic pressure on young minds.
Speaking as the co-chairperson during the graduation ceremony of the Al Ra'id International Community School in Ashale Botwe over the weekend, Hon. Dankwa urged parents to step up daily supervision regarding homework and studies, but balanced this by advocating for essential recreational time. He emphasized that academic excellence must always go hand-in-hand with physical and mental wellness.
"Parents must increase their supervision to ensure children study and do their homework at home," Dankwa advised. "But child development is not always about books. We must allow these children to go out, play, get fresh air, and take a necessary break from schoolwork."
Beyond parenting guidelines, Hon. Dankwa spotlighted Ghana’s unique socio-religious landscape, praising the enduring peaceful coexistence between Christians and Muslims in the country.
He pointed to the Al Ra'id International Community School as a prime model institution for interfaith tolerance. By successfully blending secular and Islamic education under one roof, Dankwa noted, the school serves as a practical, real-world example of how diverse religious groups can live, study, and grow together in perfect harmony.
