Accra-Kumasi Expressway: 30,000-job projection not an exaggeration - Theo Acheampong
Economist and political risk analyst Dr. Theo Acheampong has defended projections that the proposed Accra-Kumasi Expressway will create about 30,000 jobs, describing the figure as realistic rather than an exaggeration. He explained that the expressway, one of the biggest road infrastructure projects in Ghana’s history, will generate direct employment in construction as well as indirect jobs along the corridor through services, logistics and trade. Dr. Acheampong noted that beyond jobs, the expressway will drastically cut travel time between Accra and Kumasi, reduce road accidents and lower the cost of moving goods between the south and the middle belt. He urged the government to maintain transparency in procurement and financing to ensure the project delivers value for money.
